Fleetwood and Mcilroy falling behind as USA stars go for the Jug-ular

RICKIE FOWLER has dished the dirt on the Frat Pack houses shared by Americans at Carnoustie.

“I feel like the house I am in is a lot cleaner than the house that the other guys are in,” said the world No.7.

“Jordan (Spieth) can be a bit messy. He gets a little scattered but he knows where everything is at – he can find it. Dufs (Jason Dufner) is very clean. Surprising I know.

“The last couple of years he has come to live with me in the winter down in Jupiter. He is a great room-mate.”

Kevin Kisner and Zach Johnson played together in the final group in yesterday’s third round – and also spent the morning together.

“I watched Netflix, had two meals in my sweatpants and shared a bathroom with Zach Johnson,” said Kisner (above). BERNHARD LANGER shot a 68 yesterday – a month before he turns 61. It was the German veteran’s 23rd round in the 60s in his 31st Open – and included an eagle three on the par-five 14th hole

CARNOUSTIE assistant pro Keir Mcnicoll swapped selling Galvin Green waterproofs for playing with Gavin Green yesterday.

Mcnicoll spent the first two days of the Open working the early shift in the club shop.

But with the world No.203 from Malaysia the last of the 79 weekend qualifiers, Mcnicoll played as a marker in the first group of the day.

“The first tee was a bit emotional – and scary,” he said. “I’m not playing that well and so just to get contact and get it airborne at the first was impressive!”

Green added: “It’s better to play with somebody than not play with anybody. It’s just so that, okay, he’s there.

“There’s a playing partner at least. You play alone, you just feel so lonely, you know. It’s like you’re dead out there.

“I have played alone before. Always miserable. But this was fun. I like it.” NINETEEN years on from their dramatic Carnoustie Open play-off, Paul Lawrie and Jean Van de Velde were once again together on the 18th, this time on media duty, as Kevin Kisner took a double-bogey at the end of his second round.
