Kay’s crackers for Christmas

-

THE more that Meghan Markle steps into her public role, the more you can see why Prince Harry fell for her.

The Duchess of Sussex, who has just lent her support to a charity cookbook to help people affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy, shares so many of the same qualities as Harry’s late mother Princess Diana. She’s a natural who is at ease with people from all walks of life, and she radiates compassion and empathy.

Meghan secretly visited the Hubb Community Kitchen in North Kensington, set up by local women who

wanted to cook fresh food for families and friends after the disaster. With her support they produced Together – Our Community Cookbook, which features their recipes and a foreword by the Duchess. Proceeds will allow the kitchen to open more often. At a Kensington Palace launch, Meghan told how welcome the women made her feel. She said: “I feel so proud to live in a city that can have so much diversity – 12 countries represented in this one group of women.” She’s so modern, refreshing and relevant. I can’t wait to see what she does next. SKY news queen Kay Burley is all a bit “Monica from Friends” when it comes to Christmas shopping.

She’s a super-organised control freak who has all her gifts already. She admits to buying cut-price wrapping paper in the January sales and presents throughout the year.

Humbug. What’s Christmas without the last-minute Christmas Eve panic dash to the shops to pick up another pair of gloves your mum can use on her smartphone, multipacks of socks for Dad and, if all else fails, a bumper box of Ferrero Rocher?
