Time to give our veterans a real Xmas

-

ARMY veteran Dave Hunter was dreading Christmas.

Having left the service after 12 years because of his injuries, he was finding life tough.

And a benefits mix-up had left him with nothing.

Most of all, he was dreading letting down his daughter Millie.

Even the most basic Christmas was beyond him. Then he got a call from The Veterans Charity.

They’d helped Dave before and knew what he was going through. They said they would sort Christmas for him. When the hamper arrived Dave wept.

Food. Christmas dinner, sweets, and tinned stuff. Enough to last until the new year.

Plus all the things that make Christmas, decorations and crackers – even a tree. And gift vouchers so he could buy some little gifts for Millie. Dave said: “It meant the world to me.”

Thousands of veterans across the UK face a similar problem this year. That’s why we’ve teamed up with The Veterans Charity to make this our Christmas campaign.

With your help, we want to give these families a proper Christmas. The things we take for granted, the little things that make Christmas so special.

So we’re asking you to give a donation of between £1 and £10 this year. We’ll pass it on to The Veterans Charity who are busy putting the hampers together.

Last year they sent out almost 50. We reckon, with your help, that this year we can increase that figure.

And it’s going to make such a difference. These are people who have done so much for this country. Now, in their time of need, we want to show them how much they mean to us.

And there’s no better way to do that than to give them the Christmas they deserve.
