START your six-mile walk along the River Wey at the New Inn in Send, Surrey.

1 Cross over Cartbridge, turn right on to towpath and pass two bridges.

2 Go to Papercourt Lock, pass cottage, take track on left, through gate, take diagonal path over marshy ground. Under overhead lines and d through gap in fence near a tree.

3 Cross next field boundary at top right corner by river. Join path from Tanyard Bridge. Bear right with river to Broadmead Road.

4 Right over bridge, left at mini roundabout, turn left on to road to Gresham Mill.

5 Bear right along fence, over bridge, to Runtleywoo­d Farm. Left over stile to another, left to Triggs Lock, cross, right to Wareham’s bridge, to Send church. Retrace steps to Triggs Lock, take path to start. See Nationaltr­ust.org.
