80% in snub to cancer pill
FOUR out of five women at a high risk of breast cancer are refusing to take medication that can prevent the disease because of side-effects.
A study published in the journal Clinical Breast
Cancer centred on 400 women and found the majority feared the longterm effects or unpleasant symptoms of tamoxifen.
The 6p pill blocks the hormone oestrogen but sideeffects include headaches, nausea and hot flushes.
