United drinks fridge leaves Sanchez a very chilly striker

-

Steve Bates ALEXIS SANCHEZ has been left in the cold at Old Trafford – by a fridge in the dressing room.

The Chile striker has found himself frozen out of the Manchester United matchday squad on several occasions this season, prompting claims he could quit in the summer.

Now it has emerged that former Arsenal forward Sanchez has also felt the chill of a drinks cooler in the Old Trafford dressing room.

It’s understood the Sanchez’ seat and locker were adjacent to the fridge holding cold drinks for boss Jose Mourinho’s stars.

Each time it was opened by a team-mate or member of Mourinho’s staff the £450,000-a-week star was hit with a cold draught which left him chilly.

Sanchez is believed to have complained about the cooler which has now been moved. An Old Trafford insider said: “Sanchez wasn’t happy that he was forever being hit with cold air when the cooler was opened.

“In a busy dressing room the fridge is used continually before the game, at half-time and full-time and it became an annoyance for him.

“Club maintenance staff were called in to sort it out which has been done.

“The comfort and wellbeing of the players is always of paramount importance especially somewhere like the dressing room which is a critical area on match days.”

Former Barcelona striker Sanchez scored 80 times for Arsenal after his move from the Nou Camp for £30million in July 2014, and was the Gunner’s top scorer with 30 goals in all competitions the season before he left The Emirates.

But he’s been disappointing since his arrival at United, scoring only one goal in 10 league games this campaign after just two in 12 outings last season.
