Power bill hike fears
ENERGY bills will rocket by £118 a year for millions, despite new price controls, experts have warned.
Costs will be capped at £1,137 for typical dual fuel direct debit customers from January 1, saving up to £84.
But it is thought the cap will be hiked come spring due to soaring wholesale energy costs.
Price comparison website energyhelpline.com claims bills will rise by 10.4 per cent to £1,255 from April.
Spokesman Mark Todd said: “The cap will push down winter bills, bringing some respite. Come April, bills will shoot up again.”
