MAN CITY EVERTON

PALACE WANT TOURE? YAYA

-

Guardiola’s men aren’t always an invincible machine.

Marco Silva’s stars had a handful of decent chances that on another day may have made life tougher for City.

The first was the crucial one as it came at 0- 0. Lucas Digne’s cross to the far post found Richarlison steaming in but the Brazilian striker hastily volleyed over.

Scramble

An early Everton goal might not have affected the end result but it may have sowed seeds of doubt in City minds after defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Even at 3-1 down Everton kept pushing forward and there were decent chances for Richarlison and Theo Walcott, who should have made it a scramble at the end for City.

Both chances were created by England Under- 21 star Ademola Lookman who came on in the 57th minute.

The youngster was lively, skilful and direct and his contribution left frozen Everton fans wondering what might have happened if he’d been on from the start.

Instead, it was City who made the breakthrough as a poor 22nd-minute clearance by Yerry Mina fell for Ilkay Gundogan.

In a flash the ball was with Leroy Sane and his astute pass to Gabriel Jesus ended with the Brazilian beating Jordan Pickford at his near post.

It was a first league goal in 11 games stretching back to August for the striker, but another one was banked five minutes after half- time – a thumping header again from assist king Sane.

Guardiola confirmed he’ll be glued to Liverpool’s game against Manchester United today, no doubt with an expensive bottle of red.

And it’ll taste even better if United deliver their rivals a surprise Christmas present. CRYSTAL PALACE are weighing up a move for former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure who is a free agent.

Toure (below) was released by Olympiacos last week after making just five appearances in his three months in Greece.

The former Barcelona man believes that he still has a lot to offer in the

Premier League and is keen to find himself a club in the new year.

Toure, 35, who left City in the summer, has based his family in London and is looking for a club in the area.

He spoke to West Ham in the summer but Palace have asked to be kept in touch with Toure’s plans with a view to taking him to Selhurst Park.
