Blokes are top Xmas spenders
MEN are the most generous sex at Christmas – spending more than twice as much on presents for their partners than women.
A survey found men spent an average of £452.66 on their other half, while women typically shell out £187.50.
Blokes in the North East of England topped the generosity league at £614.82, while men in eastern England were the biggest scrooges at £136.08.
The biggest female spenders are in London, shelling out £298.33, while the least generous are in Scotland, forking out an average of £113.63.
The poll for Virgin Experience Days also revealed that 24 per cent of men sometimes leave it until Christmas Day itself to buy a gift – compared to 14 per cent of women.
Of these, 47 per cent go to a local shop, 46 per cent hunt online and six per cent race to a petrol station.
Liam Howard- Jones, Virgin Experience Days head of marketing, said: “Christmas can be an intense time of year, so it is no wonder some leave it until after the last minute to finish their shopping.
“But there is a danger that loved ones will feel like an afterthought if they realise their present has been bought on December 25.”
