Pub sprouts a load of hot air

-

I’VE just got one of those kitchen slop bins from the council to recycle food waste.

I can’t say I like it – it reminds me of scraping school dinner leftovers into the pig bin, and it whiffs a bit.

But we all need to do our bit to protect the environment and cut greenhouse gas emissions from landfill. Every home in England is to get a weekly collection and the Government wants to eliminate food waste by 2050.

But pubs and restaurants need to do their bit too, and stop all the gimmicky supersize grub offers.

Like the World’s Biggest Christmas Dinner – a 16,500- calorie meal currently being served at a pub in Durham.

It includes 24lb of sprouts, parsnips, turnips, carrots, green beans, cabbage broccoli and other veg.

And that blowout will cause some very whiffy gas emissions.

IN the unlikely event that you have any red wine left on Boxing Day, slop it in a bucket and soak your plates of meat in it. Because “detoxifying” red wine foot spas are the latest trend for youngsters on I nstagram.

Ah, but t his old soak beat them to it!

I wall owed in a whole bath full of wine recently and found “vinotherapy” quite intoxicating.

Mature, fruity, full bodied, thick legs – and the wine was okay too...
