IT is likely to be very cold so plan what you will wear – you will probably need two pairs of gloves and lots of layers.
Bring a tripod so you can use a long exposure if the light is dim but check the forecast first.
Ideally the sky needs to be clear for a great picture so if you have several days to play with, you can tailor your visit.
Try to get as far away from any city light pollution as possible. Also, incorporate other subjects in your frame for added interest, such as snowy trees or a reflection of the lights in the water.
