BLIND DOG’S NEW START

A BLIND dog found terrified and dumped on the streets is starting over with cuddles and love in a new home.

Judy, an eight-year-old Lakeland terrier, was discovered in a distressed state by dog wardens.

The poor pooch was handed in to the RSPCA, who saw she had a rare condition that was making her eyes pop out from her head.

As Judy could not see, vets decided it would be best to remove her eyes to avoid further complicati­ons.

Lucy Bell, care manager at the RSPCA’S Derby rehoming centre, said: “Judy is such an adorable dog who doesn’t let her blindness get her down in the slightest.

“When she first came to us she was obviously terrified but the love, care and affection of our amazing animal care team has provided her with so much comfort and she is now a very trusting dog, despite all she has been through.”

After she healed from her op, the terrier was put her up for rehoming. But staff knew it would take a special someone to take her on.

Happily, she has found a loving home with Carol Stonley and husband Andrew, both 54.
