A-list idols’ £150k just for wearing posh frock

- By James Desborough and Antonia Paget

HOLLYWOOD A-listers will pocket up to £150,000 for walking the red carpet at tonight’s Golden Globes as brands line up to kit them out in their designs.

Everything from outfits to jewellery, watches, handbags and make-up can be sponsored.

And actors can be paid more than £90,000 for wearing jewellery – or between £35,000 and £150,000 for sporting a designer’s gown.

London-based stylist Elizabeth Saltzman, who dresses Gwyneth Paltrow and Saoirse Ronan, said: “Offers come in from head to toe – jewellery, foundation, lipstick, selftanner, underwear, shoes, the jewellery, the dress.

“Deals can come from all of it.”

Sources say some actors are earning more from endorsements than through performing.

Rates reportedly start from £15,000 for makeup, while clutching a sponsored handbag at the event can earn a minimum of £7,500.

But it is not just women who are making big bucks. Men can also be paid reportedly up to £50,000 for wearing a branded tuxedo, while flashing a watch can net them anything from £10,000 up.

Brand expert Rick Genow said: “You can’t bank only on performances in a film or TV career any more.

“Brands are going directly to talent that they hope speaks to their clientele.

“It’s the ultimate marketing tool.

“Here’s a global moment to get your product seen.”
