START this five-mile walk in Suffolk at the information hut at Dunwich Heath and Beach. Cross road to blue finger post.
1 Turn right, after 40m go left past Heath Barn. At sculpture take path on right.
2 When path bears left go right, following Suffolk Coast Path sign. At four-way crossing, straight on to road, cross and continue on path. At bottom of track, follow path signed Suffolk Coast Path.
3 At road, straight up, keeping St James’ church on right. Past Ship Inn, follow Coast Path around perimeter of Greyfriars ruins.
4 Path reaches corner of road, up for 100m and take path on left. At road, cross on to path to left. Walk until you reach metal gates and go through.
5 Turn right take Dunwich Heath sign on right. Bear left, cross entrance road and continue on path, with sea on left, back to start. See nationaltrust.org.uk.
