Scam of the week

-

You have lots of rights on faulty goods when the retailer is still in business. If you discover a problem with an item, take it back to a store and ask for a refund or replacement.

If you are within 30 days of purchase or delivery you can demand a refund for faulty goods under Section 20-22 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If it was more, HMV can offer a replacement. I’M THINKING OF SHOPPING AT HMV You are still protected if the purchase is £100 or more and you use a credit card.

You will be protected under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit act 1974 because your credit card company would refund you.

I HAVE AN HMV GIFT CARD

HMV has said it will continue to accept gift vouchers while it is trading. So spend it sooner rather than later. If the brand closes for good the voucher will be worthless. FRAUDSTERS will go to extraordinary lengths to scam you out of your money.

This week I’ve heard reports that the cheats have even been cloning the website of Action Fraud, the UK’S national reporting centre for fraud and cyber crime.

Members of the public who are searching for the official website are being directed to one of two fake sites, action-fraud.com or actionfraud.eu. Visitors to these are then asked to supply personal or financial information.

Actionfraud has confirmed it never asks for any payments and that its official website address is www.actionfraud. police.uk
