Chelsea’s £58M new boy CHRISTIAN PULISIC

-

every day then everyone would be happy.

“He had a soccer talent but he was also a model student and we’re extremely proud of Christian. He’s embraced his roots here in Hershey and hasn’t forgotten where he’s come from.

“He even has it on his Twitter page USA, BVB (Dortmund) ‘Straight outta Hershey’. To all of us here that matters to us that it matters t o him. Chelsea are getting not just a top player but a top guy too.

“Lebron James wore a jersey with Christian’s name on the back – that tells you all you need to know.” Having moved to Dortmund with his footballer father Mark when he was just 15, Pulisic overcame every obstacle to become the youngest Bundesliga player of the year at just 19.

And the attacker believes that work ethic bodes well for his time at Chelsea.

Pulisic says: “As a kid I had a goal in mind and I wouldn’t stop until I reached that.

“I was always making my parents come outside with me to kick a ball around with me or just stand in goal and let me kick the ball at them. I learned a lot, especially from my dad. He was my coach growing up and the biggest influence for me in football.

“Just to go to Germany and experience a whole new culture.

Tough

“It was really tough for me – the language, just being an American in Germany, and playing soccer in Europe. But I stuck with it because I had a goal and I wouldn’t stop until I reached that. Being crowned player of the year at 19 meant everything to me.

“Not long ago I was just an American kid with a dream. I wanted to play in the pros and I can’t believe I made it this far.

“Next season I will have a new challenge in English football at Chelsea and I’ll put everything into making it a success just as I’ve done at Dortmund.”
