We want to win the lot

- By Neil Goulding

Son scored and provided two assists as Spurs hammered League Two Tranmere Rovers 7-0 in the FA Cup third round on Friday night.

And team-mate Dele Ali admitted: “Son leaving any team would be a great miss because he’s a fantastic player.

“He has amazing qualities.

“But at the same time we’ve got players who have been working hard and who are ready to come in.” DELE ALI believes Tottenham have the ability to potentially deliver on FOUR fronts this season.

The England midfielder starred as Spurs beat Tranmere 7- 0 at Prenton Park on Friday night to keep their FA Cup challenge on track.

And even though it was Spaniard Fernando Llorente who scooped the man-ofthe-match award for a fine hat-trick, victory assured Mauricio Pochettino’s side continue to chase for honours on all fronts.

They face Chelsea on Tuesday night in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinal and then have a mouthwatering

Dortmund to look forward to next month.

Ali said: “We need to start to winning things.

“It’s about time for us as players.

Compete

“We want to win trophies, that’s our aim. We want to win every game and every competition.

“We’ve been playing well. As players we want to get as far as we can.

“Some people might expect you to prioritise different competitions, but we believe we’ve got a strong squad with great players.

“As players we want to make sure we compete in every competition. We’ve got to make sure everyone is on it.

“When you’re challenging in different competitions you can take your foot off the gas, but you’ve got be consistent and keep performing at the top level.”

Spurs’ demolition job on Merseyside kept the club’s hopes alive of a first FA Cup crown since 1991.

But the Londoners have not won anything since their 2008 League Cup title under former boss Juande Ramos.

However, Ali, who gave an assured display as captain against

Tr a n m e r e , is desperate to keep improving and to guide Spurs to even greater success.

Improving

“I want to keep improving as a player and as a person as well, 2019 can definitely be better than 2018,” revealed Ali.

“I’m not going to stop trying to improve, I’m going to keep going and be better than I was last year and the year before that.” Spurs had been flying on a seven- game unbeaten run before their shock 3-1 home defeat by Wolves at Wembley at the end of last month.

But they have showed their class having bagged 10 goals in two matches.

Victory over Tranmere was their biggest winning margin since beating Wigan Athletic 9-1 in 2009.
