It won’t be a breeze for Drew

EIGHT weeks ago, Drew Brees humiliated the Philadelphia Eagles and appeared to have ended any hopes of them defending their Super Bowl crown.

New Orleans’ quarterback threw four touchdown passes as the Saints demolished the Eagles 48-7 on November 18.

Philly had won just four games at that stage and nobody gave them a prayer but five wins in the final six games saw them scrape into the playoffs where they upset Chicago last week and are now just two wins from going back to the big game.

As much as they try to ignore what happened two months ago, it clearly still hurts as they go looking for revenge.

“Yeah, it pissed us off,” said defensive end Chris Long. “Now playing them, people are rehashing that lopsided score, but for us, that’s not a fresh wound. It’s healed. And we’re excited to play.”

And team-mate Fletcher Cox added: “A lot has changed since we played them the first time. We’ve got some guys back that didn’t play the first time. We’re playing our best ball of the season.”

There is a fairytale building around Brees, who will turn 40 on Tuesday and who is looking to add a second Super Bowl title to his impressive CV.

Tonight’s first game will see a clash of two of the oldest quarterbacks in the league as 41-year-old Tom Brady of New England takes on LA Chargers’ Philip Rivers, only four years his junior.
