Nuno not going for a Burton

- By Neil Moxley

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO has challenged Wolves to go “beyond their limits” against a team he regards as one of the world’s best.

The Portuguese boss is under no illusion about the size of the task facing his side tomorrow night.

Talk of a blip affecting Pep Guardiola’s side has been silenced, after City beat Liverpool and then scored 16 goals without reply in two cup ties.

Nuno says he can take no confidence either from the fact that his last two meetings with Guardiola’s side have seen stalemates over 90 minutes.

The Wolves boss said: “Waiting in front of us is one of the best teams in the world.

“They try to unbalance you with the amount of quality players they have.

Intense

“So if you want to be successful you have to be organised, strong and intense in your actions – knowing that you have to back your team-mate.

“You must be balanced in defence and then have confidence in attack.

“We have to view this as a chance to go beyond our limits. What we had done before against Manchester City tells us we have a chance.

“We must compete. If we do, the results will come afterwards.”

Wolves were the first team last season to keep a clean sheet against Manchester City, when their League Cup tie at the Etihad was goalless, before City won on penalties.

And they took a Premier League point from City at Molineux in August.

Wolves beat Tottenham over the Christmas break, having already beaten Chelsea and drawn with Manchester United and Arsenal.

Last Monday they beat Liverpool in the FA Cup.

But Nuno added: “None of that will change us. No game is ever repeated. We have got to push on.”
