After West Ham had beaten Arsenal in the early TV game, boss Pellegrini admited that he does not know if talisman striker Arnautovic will stay at the club.

The 29- year- old Austr i a international was the subject of a £35million bid from Chinese side Shanghai SIPG last week.

And brother Danijel, who is also his agent, revealed that the player wants the Hammers to accept the offer.

As he was substituted o n 7 0 mi n u t e s , Arnautovic walked off to a mixture of jeers and cheers from the home fans. Then there was a grudging hand- shake with the manager, terrible body language

and no eye contact. Asked about the situation, Pellegrini said: “We will see what happens in the next few days and I hope he will take the best decision.

“I have been in this position a lot in my 30 years, but I am calm even though nothing is 100 per cent sure.”

Declan Rice, with a man-of-the- match display, scored his first goal for West Ham to take all the points.

Pellegrini added: “We are very happy for the club and the fans that we beat a big club like Arsenal.

“I am sure Declan will be a top player. He is improving in every game that he plays.”
