A NEW £91million super prison will have a room packed with video games to keep lags happy.

The 1,400 prisoners will also have six football pitches plus landscaped gardens and fitness centres. And there will be no iron bars on their windows.

The games consoles will not be connected to the internet so criminals cannot contact victims or associates.

Titles such as Grand Theft Auto and Assassin’s Creed will also be a no-no.

A source said last night: “It’s hoped the games will contribute towards good behaviour among the men.

“Clearly the titles on offer will have to be carefully monitored – we don’t want anything unsuitable.” The new jail will be DAISY Nolan’s grandad was one of the first heroes of D-day – silently landing a glider in the dead of night to begin the liberation of France.

And 75 years on, Daisy is to embark on an epic challenge of her own – running 75 miles in his memory.

The 27-year-old is taking part in The Veterans Charity’s Run to Pegasus Bridge to mark the 75th anniversary of the Allies’ invasion of Normandy.

Daisy’s grandfather Staff Sergeant Geoff Barkway, 22, was one of six glider pilots who had the terrifying task of carrying 186 soldiers into Nazi-occupied France in the early hours of June 6 1944.

Geoff, whose right arm was shot away, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal and died aged 84 in 2006.

Daisy, of West Sussex, said: “I’m so proud of him. He had to fly an engineless plane into war. All I’m doing is running on flat ground.”

All money raised will help veterans facing financial hardship. The charity still needs more runners. built next door to top security HMP Full Sutton, East Yorks.

It houses some of Britain’s most dangerous offenders including Babes in the Wood murderer Russell Bishop.

Others include the chief suspect in the disappearance of estate agent Suzy Lamplugh – murderer and rapist John Cannan. “The hope is that a softer regime will help in the rehabilitation of prisoners,” a source said last night.

“That might work but a lot of lags will just exploit the system and be looking for an easy ride. The idea that not having bars on windows is going to change anything is nonsense.”

Bosses hope to avoid a repeat of embarrassing headlines over the flagship £350million Berwyn jail in North Wales – dubbed HMP Travelodge for its comfy hotel-style interiors.

Last July, less than 18 months after Britain’s biggest prison opened, we showed it was gripped by a drugs epidemic, daily violence and staff walkouts.

Bosses had hoped the building would not feel like a jail and be “truly rehabilitative”.

The Full Sutton extension is part of a £1.3billion programme to build four new jails across the UK as the Government aims to tackle cell overcrowding with 10,000 new spaces by 2020.

The complex, with a 5.5 metre landscaped perimeter wall, will house 1,400 category C prisoners.

It has planning permission in outline and work is expected to begin within the next two years.
