Harry eases the pain for Pochettino

HARRY KANE came to TOTTENHAM’S rescue against SOUTHAMPTON – just as Spurs’ nightmare week looked set to get worse.

A howler from Hugo Lloris gifted Saints a leveller minutes after full-back Serge Aurier was sent off in the 31st minute.

But Mauricio Pochettino’s side – dumped out of the Carabao Cup by League Two Colchester on Tuesday – recovered thanks to Kane to claim a first win in four games.

WEST HAM boss Manuel Pellegrini was involved in an angry bust-up with Eddie Howe after accusing the BOURNEMOUTH bench of pressurising the referee.

The Chilean was fuming at the end a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium – and had to be separated from oppositenumber Howe during a heated exchange.

When quizzed about the argument, Howe claimed they were merely discussing one of the many VAR decisions which occurred in the south coast battle.

Pellegrini, though, disputed that account of the touchline bust-up – and blasted Howe’s No.2 Jason Tindall for harassing the officials throughout.

The Chilean rapped: “No, I never talked to him about the VAR decisions. I was talking about his assistant, who for the complete game was trying to pressurise the ref on every decision.

“I don’t think they need to do this – because they are a good team that play offensive football.

“I think Eddie has done very good work here – but his assistant doesn’t need to do those kind of things because I don’t think it’s fair for the referee.”

CHELSEA moved up to sixth after beating BRIGHTON 2-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks a Jorgnho penalty and Willian’s first goal of the season.

CRYSTAL PALACE beat NORWICH 2-0 at Selhurst while BURNLEY twice fought back to claim a 2-2 draw at ASTON VILLA.

WOLVES registered their first league win of the season, beating rock-bottom WATFORD 2-0 at Molineux.
