situations. I’m all for empowering women and equality but don’t be dumb.”

New docu- film Suzi Q charts the trailblazer’s rise to the top after she started a band with her sisters called the Pleasure Seekers aged just 14.

She struggled to get a record deal after moving from Detro Detroit to London in 1971 but her eventual br breakthrough produced massive hits w with memorable TV appearances on Top of the Pops.

Essex-based Suzi married her lead guitarist, Len Tuckey, T in 1976. They had two kids, Laura, now 37, and Richard, 34, wh who she always took on tour with her as youngsters.

She said: ““I had to take fertility drugs to h have them and I didn’t go through two caesareans

j just to leave them at home.” Suzi once spoke of her anguish over having an abortion, aged 18, following a fling with a record exec, but said: “I have only one regret in life, and that’s the fact I didn’t go back to the States to see my mother in the last week of her life.

“My producer said, ‘Don’t go – you can’t handle it.’ And I thought, ‘Maybe he’s right.’ But in all honesty if I had that choice again, I would go.”

Squeeze

After splitting from Len she wed tour promoter Rainer Hass in 1993 – but they have never lived together in 26 years. “We go back and forth between the UK and his home in Germany. It keeps the romance fresh and I like my own company.”

Suzi’s not worried about ageing and has no interest in plastic surgery. She said: “I embrace ageing. You can’t reverse the process. We’re all going to get old. So many people look like they saw the same doctor. I don’t like that.” So does she he have to work out to squeeze into those hose catsuits? She said: “I don’t n’t need one. On stage I wear a heavy guitar under hot t lights, and I’m basically jogging, singing and playing for two hours. No gym workout can do that.”

Suzi once won Rear of the e Year – and she rubbishes es claims that is sexist. She said: “I’m proud. If you have a nice ass, so what? Political correctness is stupid.

“I’ve always had a good backside, and I’m still shaking it at 69.” As well as bossing it on stage, Suzi memorably starred in US sitcom Happy Days as the sister of Fonzie, played by Henry Winkler. She is still good p pals with Winkler and said: “I love him – he gave me plenty p of clues on set. He’s intelligent intelli and could have been a great gr politician.” Suzi would like lik to act more and be on Strictly S Come Dancing.

But she has turned down I’m A Celeb at least nine times. t One thing is for certain, c Suzi has no retirement re plan. She said: “My “M dad worked until he was 89, so s I’m still a baby. I’ve got 20 years in i me yet.”

I’ve always had a good rear. I am still shaking it
