Traore’ll give Bolt a run for his money

- By Dave Armitage

WOLVES’ Adama Traore fears going to the gym – because it turns him into the Incredible Hulk.

The 23-year-old speed demon prepares to face Manchester City today, revealing that he has to stay off the weights to keep in shape!

Everything about the flying winger now is moderation – he’s built like a brick outhouse and has been rated the fastest footballer on the planet.

Traore, who has been clocked at 22.99mph, reckons he would beat Olympic sprint king Usain Bolt over 100m if it was with a ball at his feet.

And when the Jamaican legend won the 2009 World Championships 100m, he was timed at 23mph.

Traore is ripped, but admits he has to keep trying to convince people that his bulging biceps don’t come from sessions pumping iron.

And he hopes he can outmuscle Pep Guardiola’s men to shoot Wolves into the top half of the table.

He won’t be a stranger to Pep, having been at Barcelona as a teenager and born at a hospital just a stone’s throw from the Nou Camp.

Traore said: “Most of the time people say I must be going to the gym, but I don’t do weights.

“People don’t believe me, but it’s true. If I do weights I just get so big, so quickly. If I did weights, I would be massive in no time, honestly.

“I do different kinds of work because I just get big so quickly. It’s scary! If I was to do any work on my arms or upper body, I would have to stop within a week, two weeks, because I just get so big.”

It’s not just power, though – Traore can catch rabbits and was rated the fastest player on the planet when EA Sports released their FIFA19 ratings.

He is so rapid that when he was at Middlesbrough, his sprint coach, Olympic ace Darren Campbell, told him to slow down!

With a grin, Traore said: “Am I the fastest player in the Premier League? You never know. People have asked me if I have ever timed myself over 100m, but no I haven’t – never.

“One day I will do, but it is difficult because it could be dangerous with regard to my fitness or getting injured. The gaffer would not be happy, but one day I will try.”
