- By Janine Yaqoob TV EDITOR

DANI Dyer insists her Love Island fling was no showmance – and says working with her famous dad on her own programme was a “pinch me” moment.

She won the ITV sun and sex show last year after hooking up with pen salesman Jack Fincham.

But the pair split in April, leading to speculation their relationship was a swindle to make easy cash.

Dani, 23, said : “I know what I am and I would never fake a relationship.

“It was beautiful. We had a great summer. It just didn’t work out. People are in love and sometimes it doesn’t work out.

“That’s what happened with us. The British public aren’t stupid. They watched us for eight weeks. They’d suss us out.”

Now Dani is trying to sniff out falsehood for her MTV show True Love or Lies – which sees couples, some genuine and some not, try to get their hands on a £50,000 prize.

Dani says she’d be no good on the show because she is no good at deceit. “I wear my heart on my sleeve and I’m such a romantic person,” she said. “I fall in love hard. I’d struggle to go on a show and fake a relationship. It’s harder to lie than tell the truth.”

She says she also struggled to pick out liars on True Love or Lies, leading to shocking moments.

“I tried to suss them out, looking at body contact. But I got it all wrong. I was terrible. I take people at face value.”

Presenting her first show, it’s a family affair as dad Danny, 42 – Mick Carter in Eastenders – voices the programme.

She said: “It’s such a ‘pinch me’ moment, having my own show. I never thought it would happen.

“It’s lovely working with my dad, although I didn’t see him when filming.” Dani does admit mit to telling the odd fib to her dad and Essex stockbroker broker boyfriend Sammy Kimmence. mence.

But Dani insists she’s s not after Caroline’s Love Island job.

She said: “She does a cool walk and stuff and I do a bit of that. I didn’t want to copy her too much. I brought a bit of Dani to the show. ow. Caroline is amazing at what at she does.”
