WOODWARD IN FOR GARY

-

League wins against United today as they chase a first title since 1990. But the United boss has come out fighting on the eve of their big clash – and claimed their time in the title wilderness won’t be as long. “I’m sure we will bounce back and win the league – and I’m sure it won’t be 30 years until the next,” he said.

Solskjaer has been given a free pass by United’s hierarchy this season as he reshapes the squad and tries to turn the club around. But the Old Trafford Treble hero insists he wouldn’t settle for a draw today against Klopp’s runaway leaders – even though United are in the doldrums.

“You never take a draw when you’re at Man United. You just don’t. I want to go out there and get three points,” he said. “We need points, it doesn’t matter if it’s Liverpool, Manchester

City or Brighton. We want to win games. We need to start winning games.

“A win can turn the season around. A good performance and result for us here can change players’ confidence, players’ mood, players’ perception of what is good.

“Maybe they haven’t really believed they are good enough at times, and with a lack of confidence you think twice instead of acting on instinct.” MANCHESTER UNITED supremo Ed Woodward wants to heal his rift with Gary Neville to get him on board with their future vision.

Old Trafford’s executive vicechairman hasn’t spoken with Neville (above) since last season with the former club defender highly critical of Woodward’s role in United’s decline.

But Woodward is keen to “build bridges” with Neville as United seek to strengthen their ties with the former Class of 92 and other influential figures from Sir Alex Ferguson’s time at Old Trafford in a similar way to how Liverpool use their former players at Melwood.
