Child’s play for Klopp as his relentless Red army rolls on

IF ANYONE is going to stop this marauding Red army then it’s looking like it’s going to have to be Manchester City again a week today.

Defiant Liverpool won this thriller in the fourth minute of added time, taking their incredible run to one Premier League defeat in their last 50 games, dating back to the final game of the 2017-18 season.

Manchester City of course in the January of last season. Now it’s all set up for the big one, Liverpool versus Manchester City: The Rematch at Anfield.

Both Liverpool and City were in trouble yesterday, Pep Guardiola’s men coming from a goal behind to triumph against Southampto­n, while the Reds simply refused to give up against Villa despite trailing until the 87th minute.

“It’s the best possible emotion in football,” said Kop boss Jurgen Klopp after the last-gasp win.

“But we made it difficult for ourselves. The way we played was playful, like kids. It looked like good football but I didn’t like it. We didn’t finish it off until the second half when we were more aggressive.

“When we conceded the goal we had to be serious, there are still things we have to learn and improve and we will.

“We have had some knocks this season, but mostly we have solved them. We did that again against Aston Villa who were prepared for a proper battle, a proper fight.”
