BBC snubs Bea royal wedding NO LIVE TV PLANS AMID ANDY FURY

- By David Stephenson

PRINCESS Beatrice’s wedding will not be broadcast live on the BBC, TV chiefs have confirmed.

The event is expected to be a star-studded affair as the princess has showbusiness pals such as Ellie Goulding, Ed Sheeran and James Blunt.

TV rights are usually offered free to the BBC but bosses say it will be covered as a news event instead.

And one expert predicted the event could be held privately because Bea’s dad Andrew was too “toxic” after his Newsnight interview in November.

He is still sheltering from the fallout over claims he had sex with a 17-year-old victim of his paedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein in 2001.

When Bea’s sister Eugenie, 29, tied the knot in October 2018, Andrew is said to have lobbied the BBC to broadcast it live. The efforts failed and ITV ended up televising it instead. ITV has declined to say if it will broadcast Bea’s wedding.

Royal author Phil Dampier said:

“Andrew is so toxic I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s going to be a private wedding with a couple of photos released afterwards.

“With Andrew stepping down from public duties as a result of the Epstein scandal I think it was always likely to be a low key affair compared to her sister’s.

“It wouldn’t look good if there was an all singing, all dancing, extravagant wedding riding around the streets of Windsor.”

A date and venue has yet to be announced for the wedding of Beatrice, 31, and property tycoon Edoardo Mozzi, 34.

Most speculation has centred on late May or early June at St George’s Chapel, Windsor.

Buckingham Palace said: “Further details will be released in due course.”
