No10 BABY FOR BORIS Err... how many kids is that, Prime Minister?

‘Greta law’ in schools

- By Chris Mclaughlin by Nigel Nelson POLITICAL EDITOR

A “GRETA law” to make all schools carbon neutral by 2030 has received crossparty backing from MPS.

The £23billion plan is claimed to be the first piece of legislation written by students and is inspired by the global climate crisis campaign of Greta Thunberg.

Scarlett Westbrook, 15, one of the organisers, told an audience in Westminster there is a “limited provision of climate education”.

Education Secretary Gavin Williamson will meet organisers to discuss ways of turning the draft English Climate Emergency Education Bill into law.

All new teachers would be trained in climate change and it would be taught in every school.

PRIME Minister Boris Johnson’s girlfriend Carrie Symonds is expecting a baby – and the couple plan to marry.

Last night speculation mounted that the child, which is expected in early summer, was conceived during the Tory Party conference.

Carrie, 31, broke the news that she was around five months pregnant to friends yesterday evening on her Instagram account.

And she added that she and the PM, who is 23 years her senior, are to marry.

Carrie, a former Tory communications director, said: “I wouldn’t normally post this kind of thing on here but I wanted my friends to find out from me.

“Many of you already know but for my friends that still don’t, we got engaged at the end of last year.

“And we’ve got a baby hatching early summer. Feel incredibly blessed.”

Carrie made the announcement after rumours were fuelled by Westminster colleagues who had noticed she had given up drinking.

A June baby could mean that the couple conceived at the Midland Hotel, Manchester, during last October’s Tory conference.

Affair

Carrie will be Mr Johnson’s third wife. It is unclear how many children the new baby will make for him but it will be at least six. Mr Johnson wouldn’t answer questions during December’s election campaign on how many children he had.

He has four grown-up children with his estranged wife, lawyer Marina Wheeler, and another with property developer Helen Macintyre conceived during an affair.

Mr Johnson and Carrie have had an up-and-down relationship.

The pair were pictured holding hands and gazing into each other’s eyes during the Tory leadership campaign last year.

But just days before, police had been called to the couple’s home in Camberwell, South London. A neighbour who heard screaming, shouting and plate-smashing had called 999.

Last night Carrie’s new PR assistant, Sarah Vaughn-brown, said: “The Prime Minister and Miss Symonds are very pleased to announce their engagement and that they are expecting a baby in the early summer.”

Former Chancellor Sajid Javid, who stormed out of Mr Johnson’s Cabinet last month, tweeted: “Wonderful news.”

Mr Johnson, who is the first British PM to live with his girlfriend at No 10, will now be first to marry in office for 250 years.
