£100K ADS FOR MEG & HAZ CHAT
Couple attract Super Bowl-style
HARRY and Meghan’s TV chat with Oprah Winfrey is set to attract money-spinning Super Bowl-style adverts.
The duo’s March 7 interview will net huge sums for slots on US network CBS.
And experts believe coverage on ITV – the favourite channel to win the UK rights – could attract ads worth £100,000 per 30-second slot.
More than 50 million people are due to watch the interview in the US next month, making it as popular as the American Football final. A further 15 million could tune in here too when the chat is aired the following day.
Media expert Jonathan Shalit said: “It’s the interview of the year. ITV will get between 10 and 15 million as it’s a landmark event and still during British winter time, in lockdown with dark nights.”
It has been reported that Harry, 36, and Meghan, 39, are not accepting a fee for the chat. But Shalit believes it will lead to them vastly increasing their future
US earnings. He said: “It’s a lot of money, but Harry and Meghan need a lot as they’ve an expensive life to fund in America. They’re on an upward trajectory in terms of earnings.”
And Gideon Spanier, of advertising mag Campaign said: “On ITV, if it could get a large audience of over 10 million, a 30-second spot might command £100,000.”
TOM Holland may have swapped his Spiderman jumpsuit for a hot new look – but he can’t live down his love of superhero Lycra.
The actor, 24, features in the April edition of GQ where he talks about losing 2st to star in Cherry, a movie about a drug-addicted Army veteran who robs banks.
It’s a far cry from saving the world as Spider-man – but a throwback snap previously posted by his mum Nikki on Instagram shows that Tom’s always been training to take on super roles, even as a child.
Speaking about Cherry, Tom said: “This role took me to some of the darkest places I have ever been. I would never go back there again, not for anyone.”
