Jor bang on target
SCOTT PARKER joked he thought Jordan Zemura’s target was over the top before the Bournemouth left-back bagged his first professional goals.
Zemura used an interview in the match programme to reveal he was targeting three goals in the first half of the campaign.
And the Zimbabwe international is already close to his target destination after two fine finishes in a comfortable victory over Barnsley.
“I saw that in his notes and thought it was ambitious,” Cherries boss Parker said. “But he’s right on track now. Today was a fine performance from him. He has a lovely forward drive about him and is improving defensively.
Zemura opened the scoring in the eighth minute (above) after a scintillating counter attack. Dominic Solanke celebrated his fifth goal of the season, following a clanger from keeper Brad Collins, before Zemura waltzed through the Tykes defence to keep up Bournemouth’s unbeaten start.
Parker added: “I’m really pleased with all facets of our games. We kept a clean sheet and for the second game in a row stopped the other team from getting a shot on target.
“We had some massive opportunities and if we had put the finishing on a couple of moves then it would have been a delightful score.”
Barnsley manager Markus Schopp agreed: “For them only to get three goals is a good result for us! We started perfect but when you aren’t clinical enough and losing the ball too easy then it turns to the other team.”
