Sara’s goal to blitz her mum-tum

-

DRAGON’S Den star Sara Davies says she went on Strictly to shake off her “mum-tum” – but has only lost 2lb in two weeks.

The businesswoman started running before the show and has trained up to eight hours a day. “Two weeks, 2lb!” she said. “I have been working on losing this mum-tum for about five years and it hasn’t gone anywhere.

“Aljaz says, ‘Don’t you worry, give it a few weeks with the hips and you’ll be absolutely fine’. We’ve done the Cha Cha and I’ve had a bit of hip action. He says, ‘Wait until we get to Samba week and you’ll not know what’s hit you’.

“I’ve been trying to run, knowing I was going on the show. I was quite worried about stamina to do eight to 10 hours of training a day. I’ve had to work at it.”

Nervous

Sara, 37, of Coundon, Co Durham, was nervous about wearing the show’s tight costumes but revealed she has a secret formula – ruching in her dresses.

“Vicky Gill [Strictly & Bafta winning Costume Designer] is the best in the business.

“I was really nervous going into the show, ‘What about all my lumps and bumps and what are you going to do?’.

“She said ‘Don’t worry, you’re in great hands’. She’s from half an hour up the road and has had kids, so northern mum to northern mum, she was like, ‘I totally get it’.

“The first costume she was like ‘I’ve put a bit of extra ruching in here so you don’t have to worry about it’. She’s been a godsend.”

Dance partner Aljaz says Sara has left him out of breath, adding: Sara’s stamina is incredible.”

He’s been spending time at

Sara’s home with husband Simon and their children Oliver and Charlie, where he helps with the school run and reading stories.
