Brit carer’s Costa rap
A BRITISH carer accused of befriending vulnerable expat OAPS so she could con them out of their savings has been arrested by Spanish police.
The suspected crook allegedly set up a phoney firm to provide home care for elderly Brits and target their property and cash.
A second woman, believed to be Spanish, has also been held as part of the police operation codenamed Operation Hausel.
Up to 12 elderly people in Mazarron on the Costa Calida in Murcia, southeastern Spain, are feared to be victims.
Detectives say they are already in contact with a 90-year-old woman who lived alone and signed over her will and bank account.
They are working on identifying more victims after seizing £41,000 in sterling and euro notes and savings books and bank cards during raids.
A Civil Guard spokesman said: “Officers have dismantled a fraudulent company which supposedly provided home care to elderly British nationals.”
