Commuter train snub

TRAIN commutes are still less than half their pre-pandemic level as people continue to work from home.

But leisure journeys have bounced back to just 10% below where they were, says the Rail Delivery Group.

Meanwhile car use is now up to or above its level before the first lockdown, Department for Transport figures for August suggest.

RDG director general Andy Bagnall said train companies are working on flexible options to give commuters “more choice”.
