Celtic pain at pen miss

- Scottish Round-up

ANGE POSTECOGLOU backed Giorgos Giakoumakis to bounce back from his injury-time penalty miss on a frustrating day for CELTIC.

Postecoglou (above) saw his men held to a goalless draw with LIVINGSTON as they missed the chance to go top of the Scottish Premiership.

Giakoumakis’s spot-kick was saved by Max Stryjek after Ayo Obileye was sent off for lashing out at Celtic sub Kyogo Furuhashi in the 92nd minute.

Celtic stay second and are now a point behind Rangers, who face Motherwell today.

The Celtic boss said: “It was my decision– Giakoumakis on penalties.

“He’ll be disappointed but that’s part of being a striker, you have to pick yourself up and put the ball in the net next time.

“It was just one of those days. We created enough opportunities.”

ABERDEEN came from behind to end HEARTS unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 win.

Hearts led thanks to John Souttar’s penalty but Marley Watkins levelled before Lewis Ferguson’s header won it.

Hearts then had Andy Halliday sent off late on to cap a miserable day as they remain in third.

THERE was a time last season, when Jurgen Klopp admitted he had no control over Liverpool’s transfer policy, you wondered if he was no longer singing from the same hymn sheet as the club’s owners. His message to Anfield’s hierarchy over Mo Salah’s contract stalemate provide a similar soundtrack. Klopp hails the Egyptian (right) as the best player in the world, yet it seems Liverpool’s owners FSG are in no mood, at present, to pay the going rate. Salah is believed to want £400,000 a week. Eye-watering, but a bargain for a Ballon d’or winner in the making.
