A TEARFUL Adele claimed yesterday that she will “100 per cent be back” following her shock postponement of her Las Vegas shows.

The singer broke down during an exclusive chat with the Sunday People as she apologised to British fans who had spent thousands of pounds on tickets and air fares for her opening night of a residency. Adele, 33, who is staying in a £30,000-a-night suite at the city’s Caesars Palace hotel, told us: “I just want to apologise and thank all those who have shown me their love and support at this difficult time.

“It means so so much to me. I am so blessed to have the best fans in the world.

I promise I will be 100 per cent back.”

The singer spoke to the Sunday People via the internet’s

Facetime just yards from where she should have given her first performance on Friday night at the hotel’s Colosseum Theatre.

As fans gathered around the phone amid rumours she had stage fright, she said she is now suffering FOMO – fear of missing out.

She said: “There is nothing I’d want more right now to perform, but I need the show to be the very best – it’s what fans deserve.

“Seeing you there is giving me terrible FOMO. I so wish I was with you.” And in a direct message to British fans, she vowed to make it up to them. “I’ve shows in the UK this year, and I hope we can get together then,” she added.

“I do not want anyone to miss out. I just want to send my love to all those who have been left disappointed. From the bottom of my heart I am sorry.” Adele, who was due to sing twice every weekend for 12 weeks for a reported fee of £500,000 a show, claims she pulled out on Thursday because of production problems caused by Covid – which is currently surging in the Las Vegas state of Nevada.

Fury

Asked why the show had been cancelled, a staff member told us: “It just couldn’t come together and this is the right thing to do. It is important that she is happy.”

Adele spoke to loyal fans as they visited her merchandise shop in the hotel to snap up gifts ranging from hoodies costing £85 to a bottle of wine for £55.

Reaction to the scrapping of her shows ranged from sympathy to fury.

Teresa Whittle, 42, said: “I think we all know how fragile she can be. Adele is a perfectionist, but what comes with that are incredible nerves.”

But lawyer Gillian Rowland-kain, 32, who was on a flight to Las Vegas when she found out, said: “Her lack of notice is astounding. I’m angry and frustrated.”

Adele, who is known to suffer badly with stage fright, is expected to still be a part of The Brit Awards next month and she has two gigs at London’s Hyde Park on July 1 and 2.

But if her schedule isn’t able to fit in her Vegas dates they may not happen until next year.
