Guardiola’s ‘not going anywhere’

-

the past few months – and more of their table-topping squad are expected to sign before the end of the season.

The Blues are also amongst the front-runners to lure Borussia Dortmund’s Norwegian sensation Erling Haaland in the summer because east Manchester is seen as the place to be as long as Guardiola remains.

City are on course to win the Premier League for the fourth time in five seasons and have lifted 10 trophies in the six years the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has been at the helm.

The Blues were beaten in last season’s Champions League final – and there have been suggestions that Guardiola will walk away if he can make City European champions for the first time.

But the growing feeling around the club is that he wants to create a dynasty.

Mellowed

City’s players have been struck at how the 51-year-old former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has never looked more at home than he does at the moment.

The source added: “Pep’s intensity to win is the same, but in many ways he seems to have mellowed. He’s happy.”

Joao Cancelo became the latest player to sign a new contract during the week.

The Portuguese has signed until 2027, along with Ruben Dias and Jack Grealish.

Ederson, John Stones and talented youngsters Cole Palmer, Liam Delap and James Mcatee all penned new deals since last summer taking them to 2026 with new 18-year-old Brazilian signing Kayky.

Kevin De Bruyne, Ameyric Laporte, Nathan Ake and Zac Steffen are in until 2025.

So too is Bernardo Silva, but City are looking at securing the Portuguese midfielder even longer after an outstanding season.

Phil Foden has been in talks and City also want to tie-up Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan.

Real Madrid are City’s biggest rivals in the race for Haaland, but the Spanish giants’ main focus is on Kylian Mbappe as he nears the end of his Paris Saint-germain deal.

City remain in the market for an elite goalscorer, but Guardiola would be the club’s biggest signing.
