TODD’S BIG DAY BLUES

-

the visitors a glimmer of hope three minutes after coming on in the 79th minute and Coady popped up at the death to deny Thomas Tuchel & Co three precious points.

Boehly and his consortium now have until the end of May to thrash out the finer details of their deal to buy Chelsea from the sanctioned Russian oligarch.

And in that time they must have their passing of the owners’ test ratified by the Premier League and gain permission from the UK Government to complete their takeover.

Once all that has been done, they will then get to work with Tuchel on trying to put together a squad that can compete for trophies at the same rate they did during Abramovich’s 19 years at the helm, winning 21.

Boehly, the co-owner of LA Dodgers baseball team, watched the 2-2 draw with Wolves from a box next to Abramovich’s old one in the West Stand with Eldridge business partners Adams Miller and Duncan Bagshaw.

The trio’s presence and the big forward step the club had taken overnight in the takeover process did not have any real bearing on Tuchel.

Sanctions

The Chelsea boss said: “It does not change much for us, because the sanctions are not lifted and the season will go on anyway.

“We still hope for a positive outcome and that the situation is solved.

“At the moment it seems like it, but it’s not so it’s not worth thinking about.

“We have our own stuff to solve and do better because we struggle at the moment.

“I heard in the morning and I’m in the middle of preparing my session, I’m in my matchday routine so there is no influence, I’m no more excited to come to the stadium or less excited than last week.

“I just do what I do – I have my routine and I have enough to do, it did not absolutely affect me.

“I know it’s positive and we hope for the best, the situation has taken so long now that we need it to be solved, but personally there was no influence on the game.”
