CANARIES INVESTED IN SHOCKS & BONDS

- By Jon West

DEAN SMITH says he has two million good reasons to spoil Tottenham’s end-of-season party.

Spurs kick off at Norwich today needing just a point to pip Arsenal for a place in next season’s Champions League.

The Canaries are already down but manager Smith insists they still have much to play for.

Victory could take them off the basement and ahead of Watford – and that would mean an extra £2million in the bank to boost a summer spending spree.

Smith (left) said: “It could be useful and is something that it is being dangled above us – plus it would be nice to be party poopers.”

The Canaries boss is hoping to leave Heung-min Son especially dejected.

The Tottenham forward’s race for the Premier League

Golden Boot will also be decided today – and the

South Korean is just one goal behind Liverpool’s

Mo Salah as things stand before the games kick off at 4pm. Son has already got the better of Smith twice this season.

First he helped Tottenham to a 2-1 home victory in October against Aston Villa, who sacked Smith soon after.

Then he netted the third in a 3-0 Norwich loss in December a few weeks after Smith had taken over there. The Norwich man said: “Let’s hope he gets the bronze boot then!

“Son is an unbelievable forward and in the games I have played against him this season he has been the difference.”

For their part Norwich will look to Teemu Pukki (left) again for goals, with the Finland striker having bagged 11 so far in this campaign.

That matched his 2019-20 Premier League haul when the Canaries finished bottom – but this time he has been voted the fans’ player of the year.

Smith said: “I’m really pleased with what Teemu brings off and on the pitch.

“He is low-maintenance, but is wellrespected as well. He doesn’t say an awful lot but when he does he is listened to, which is really important.”
