MPS push for change
TV hosts Lisa Snowdon, Penny Lancaster and Mariella Frostrup join female MPS tomorrow to sign the Menopause Workplace Pledge at the Commons.
Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle wants Parliament to be a “menopause-friendly” employer, with possible adjustments including wellventilated rooms and fans, flexible working and breathable uniforms.
The pledge, launched by the Wellbeing of Women charity, will commit the House of Commons Service to recognise, talk about and support employees going through menopause.
Sir Lindsay said: “I also want to break the taboo and get everyone in our parliamentary village talking about the menopause.”
MP Carolyn Harris, chairwoman of the Allparty Parliamentary Group on Menopause, will also be at the signing.
