PLEA TO BOJO ON A PINT OF ORDER
BEER drinkers have urged Boris Johnson to push through his plan to restore the Crown measure on a pub pint.
The PM announced the return to the imperial symbol on glasses as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
But there is still no legal definition of what constitutes a full pint, leaving punters open to short measures. Campaigners want Boris to ensure drinkers have the law on their side when asking for a top-up.
Nik Antona, chairman of the Campaign for Real Ale, said: “It’s great to see the proposed return of the Crown mark. But many don’t realise they have no legal right to a top-up.”
The Department for Business said a public consultation is under way on how best to implement imperial measures.
