Cricketers left gutted by pub fire
A PUB co-owned by England cricketer Stuart Broad was gutted by fire yesterday.
The blaze started hours before Broad, 36, played against New Zealand on the second day of the second Test at Trent Bridge, Notts.
The cricketer, who owns the award-winning Tap and Run with ex-england ace Harry Gurney, 35, said they had been left “devastated” by the blaze.
Eight fire crews attended the pub in Upper Broughton, on the border of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, at 3.20am yesterday morning.
They found the roof of the building and the first floor had collapsed.
In a statement, Broad and Gurney said: “We are heartbroken to see our beautiful pub in flames. Thankfully no one was hurt. We will be back.”
The Tap and Run was named Pub of the Year in Leicestershire last year.
