Music’s Robbie kicked it all off
SOCCER Aid for UNICEF was created by singer Robbie Williams in 2006 and is the world’s biggest celebrity football match, raising money for disadvantaged children.
The event, broadcast live on ITV and STV, has raised millions of pounds for charity and become a firm fixture in the football calendar.
Celebrities playing tonight include Liam Payne, Mo Gilligan, Martin Compston, Damian Lewis, Steven Bartlett, Lee Mack and Tom Grennan.
Olympic heroes Sir Mo Farah and Usain Bolt will also line up, as will a string of top ex-pros, including Cafu, Patrice Evra, Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Joe Cole.
The England team will be managed by Harry Redknapp, David Seaman and Emma Hayes. Arsene Wenger and Robbie Keane
are set to take charge of the World XI.
