Feel the noize like in Slade

-

PRISONERS are getting calming music piped into their cells to help them sleep at night.

Offenders in HMP Humber, East Yorkshire, can listen to relaxing tunes via a special TV channel which also offers guitar and ukulele lessons.

Staff hope this will reduce the mental health impact of “sleep inversion” caused by them dozing all day during long lockdowns.

Can’t help wondering what HMP Slade’s Mr Mackay would have made of it.

He hated hearing lags singing while they did their Porridge. Especially when Fletch burst into that Matt Monro classic…

“Born free, til somebody caught me, now I’m doin’ solitary…”
