Wolves getting brand new Pal

- By Tom Hopkinson

WOLVES want to wrap up the signing of Joao Palhinha from Sporting Lisbon this week.

Talks between the two clubs are at an advanced stage with Wolves’ offer of around £17million, plus add-ons totalling just over £4m, accepted by the Portuguese giants.

The 26-year-old (below) has been on the Black Country club’s radar since Nuno Espirito Santo’s time in the hot seat.

And they are finally making a move to land him as a replacement for Ruben Neves, who is set to leave Molineux this summer.

Palhinha’s deal with Sporting still has four years to run and contains a buyout clause of more than £50m.

But the global economic situation means Wolves can get him for less than half that amount and the Portugal international is set to complete his move to the Premier League.

Palhinha has been offered a four-year deal in the West Midlands.
