Boro hail Gayle loan

NEWCASTLE’S Dwight Gayle is on the cusp of sealing a loan move to Middlesbrough.

The 32-year-old striker appears set for a switch to Teesside after Chris Wilder won the race for his services.

Gayle (below) was wanted by Paul Heckingbottom at Sheffield United but is primed to make the move to the

Riverside where Wilder has received backing from chairman Steve Gibson.

Boro will have to pay a loan fee for Gayle but that should not be a problem if Tottenham push ahead with their bid to land Djed Spence for £20million.
