‘We have wasted millions’

-

Erik ten Hag. The Old Trafford chief also told a group of fans that last season was a “f ***** g nightmare” and he hated every game.

Arnold, spoke to members of ‘The 1958’ – a fan group wanting ownership change at the club – at a pub in Cheshire after they are thought to have gone to his home.

They were protesting about the Florida-based Glazer family who have owned United for 17 years.

Arnold appeared to be unaware that a member of the group filmed the dialogue – leading to some embarrassing disclosures.

Arnold refused to defend his paymaster Joel Glazer and admitted the club needed as much as £1.25billion to build a new stadium and state-of-the-art training ground.

“We’ve spent a £1billion on players the last few years, more than anyone in Europe.

“I’m not thrilled where we are, it doesn’t sit easy and I worry that we have to get this sorted for the future. But what’s happened is we’ve f ***** g burned through cash,” said Arnold.

“You can’t go to our training ground and say show me where the billion pound is, because I don’t think we have done well with the money we have spent historically.

“Look I’m not here to defend Joel (Glazer) he must speak for himself.

“We have blown through a lot of money but this summer the money, the manager and director of football is there.

“Investing in a new stadium and training ground – we have to do something and get investors in.

“No club in the world has the money to build a new stadium without getting it from somewhere, no one generates that money.

“The other bit is last season was a f ***** g nightmare I was hating every game.”
