Sex addicts in their 90s

Rampant wrinklies among 100 seeking help from NHS

RANDY OAPS are seeking NHS treatment for sex addiction – including one aged over NINETY.

Doctors have recorded more than 100 adults with “excessive sexual drive” since 2017.

They include one ninetysomething, five in their eighties and two in their seventies.

The NHS figures come after we revealed record numbers of over-80s are getting prescriptions for Viagra.

Frank Furedi, professor of sociology at the University of Kent, said: “The reason why many elderly people are obsessed with sex is because they are continually incited to believe that no matter your age, you have the right to an exciting sex life.”

In the past five years there were a total of 102 hospital appointments where medics recorded sex addiction as being either the main problem with the patient or a contributory factor to another medical issue. There were 75 men and 27

women with an average age of late-40s. Sex addiction – which many doctors deny even exists – first hit the headlines in the 1990s when actor Michael Douglas was reported to have had treatment for it, a story he later denied.

Nuno Albuquerque, of private provider UK Addiction Treatment Group, said addicts can be helped by therapy.

He added: “The sex addict will likely also have mental health problems, may have experienced emotional, sexual or physical abuse in the past, or may have lost an important relationship to them.

“Some sex addicts can also experience suicidal thoughts.

“It is without a doubt a very serious addiction.”

Many think they have the right to exciting sex at

any age
