WOMAN KILLED IN DOG ATTACK
Husband suffered life changing injuries
NEIGHBOURS last night told of their shock and sorrow after a mum was mauled to death by a dog in her own home.
The 43-year-old victim was killed and her partner, aged 42, was left with “potentially life-changing injuries” in Friday evening’s attack.
Police and paramedics were called to the family home at just after 10pm, in Rotherham, South Yorks. Last night the victim was named by locals as Joanne Robinson.
Floral tributes addressed to Joanne were left outside the scene of the attack.
A woman living nearby hailed her as a “lovely lady” and a loving mum.
Another said: “I’ve got dogs myself. This is very sad.” A third added: “It’s shocking.”
Two dogs were seized and removed from the property, although their breed was yesterday unclear.
South Yorkshire Police said neither were considered banned under the
Dangerous Dogs Act. A spokesman said: “We were called by a member of the public stating a dog had attacked himself and a woman.
“Officers attended with an ambulance crew and found a man, aged 42, with a potentially life-altering injury to one hand, plus injuries to his other hand, abdomen and face.
“He was transported to hospital for further treatment.
“The woman, aged 43, had been fatally bitten and despite the best efforts of emergency crews was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The dog, plus another dog at the property, were secured by specially trained officers.”
The incident is the latest in a series of fatal dog attacks this year.
Three-month-old baby Kyra Leanne King was mauled to death by a husky in Lincolnshire. Daniel John Twigg, aged three, was killed by a cane corso near Rochdale, Gtr Manchester. And 62-year-old Keven Jones died after being savaged by his daughter-in-law’s XL bully.
