Crews fight bus inferno

- By Emer Scully

A BUS burst into flames following a crash which forced up to 20 passengers to flee in fear.

Six ambulances, three fire engines and the police raced to the scene on the A24 in Worthing, Sussex, yesterday afternoon.

The bus is thought to have ploughed into an undertaking driver.

Pictures of the bus showed its windows blown out as it was engulfed by the inferno.

Miraculously, most passengers escaped unharmed, according to witnesses.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “Our crews assessed and treated 10 patients at the scene.”

Two adults were taken by ambulance to Worthing and Brighton’s Royal Sussex County Hospitals.
